    Teaching Statement

    From my teaching statement: M
y teaching philosophy is very pluralistic. A course contains a lot of moving parts, and effective instruction is most often about finding balances where these parts can work together and produce the best classroom experience. As a teacher, I try and balance providing structure for students with providing space for them to make the course their own. I also try and balance such things as making the course fun with making it rigorous, providing support for students with allowing space for independence. While the appropriate balance between each of these will vary from course to course and roster to roster, I am always eager to make sure that my courses and teaching center around creating good environments for student learning.
